Explore the Black Wood of Rannoch or walk part of the Clan Trial, a 22-mile trail around the loch with a fascinating history of the prominent clans in the area. For great views along the glen take a hike up Craig Varr, the towering hill summit overlooking Kinloch Rannoch. There is a direct 3-mile walk, there and back, starting at the hotel.
For more challenging walks there are a few longer walking and hiking routes worth planning such as from Rannoch Station to Corrour which covers part of the Road to the Isles. Tick off a Munro by climbing the famous “fairy mountain” Schiehallion. Named in the top 10 Munros for beginners by the Scotsman it offers spectacular views along the length of Loch Rannoch. Other Munros a short drive away include Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlass . Definitely a well-earned tea after that!
Pick up leaflets at Reception for more information or ask one of our Leisure team for their insight and recommendations. You can also find a more detailed list of walks and information on the Rannoch and Tummel Association website.
